About: Agoda.com Review
Agoda.com is one of the biggest and fastest growing online hotel booking platforms in the world today.
It was established in 2005 as a start-up business and has expanded quickly in Asia.
It was then acquired in 2007 by the world’s largest seller of rooms online – the Priceline Group – giving them even better services in the years to come.
Pros: Agoda Review
The website Agoda.com is a traveler’s best friend when it comes to finding hotels and other accommodations in places they plan to visit in the future. The reason for this is because they can search for available accommodations in their website in just a few searches.
The results on these are complete with the photos of the hotel, amenities, exact location and other traveler reviews.
You can read the traveler Agoda.com reviews directly when searching for a hotel here.
- Easy Booking Cancellation Policy
- Worldwide Hotel Reservations Service
- Website is Easy to Use
- Filter Hotel Searches by Rating
Cons: Agoda Review
However, the company holds an F rating at the Better Business Bureau website at this time. This can be because of a couple of reasons that can be read in the Agoda reviews made by their customers there.
First is that there are complaints about how they were being treated by their customer service. Many have filed against them regarding how rude their staff had handled their issues in the past.
The second is that there are issues also with regards to their refund policy that has been filed on the BBB website. Since each hotel will have their separate refund policy, this can be quite confusing and frustrating for customers to handle if they plan to do any cancellations in the future with Agoda.com.

Never book through Agoda, they wouldn’t help you in any way after you have booked.
I booked 3 rooms in Chennai for 6 nights after reading reviews and seeing pictures – two with double adult occupancy and one with one adult and one child occupancy. The rooms I received were all single occupancy rooms. I was even willing to pay extra for upgraded double occupancy room but they weren’t available. I contacted agoda the same day I checked in and informed them about the situation, I was told that I can check out and they will resolve it the next day.
I checked out the next day and checked into another hotel. I never received any call from agoda EVER. I had to follow up every single time and they will always give a reply stating that they will contact the property and will revert in 24 to 48 hours.
I had to contact the property directly spoke to the reception and the manager who mentioned that they don’t have any issue with the refund for the rest of the 5 nights. Agoda refused to even consider it and continued to tell me that they are still trying to contact the property and will revert back in 24 to 48 hours.
I took the matter in my own hands and talked to the FabHotels itself. They mentioned that they won’t be able to refund the entire amount but will refund only 4 nights as they have to charge for 24 hour cancellation day. Which I even communicated with Agoda.
Agoda initially sent me a email stating that they will refund the 4 nights. But later, I received an email stating that the property denied the refund and they won’t be able to refund me.
NEVER EVER BOOK THROUGH AGODA. THEY ARE A SCAM.
Very disappointing customer service. No responses to requests for help after 5 days in a row of calling and emailing Agoda support. Customer service not friendly or knowledgeable. We are a partner hotel and they are not concerned with their partners needs that’s all that can be said at this point. It’s affecting our company’s business.
I like the prices shown by Agoda and the free cancellation policy as long as you cancel by the due dated that is listed. I will again make my reservations with Agoda.
Very poor customer service. Rented a hotel room by mistake in a different country. Called hotel within minutes to cancel the said no. Tried to reach Agoda to cancel no way to reach them. This is a scam company DO NOT USE!!!!!!
I booked a stay between 25th to 28th September on Agoda using my mastercard. The booking was in New Delhi in Hotel Ambassador (run by Taj Hotel Chain in India. The booking was in my wife’s name, her email ID was used to book. I used my credit card to pay INR.13,956.27. The amount was charged to my credit card and I got the card charge message from the bank. But the moment the OTP was entered and the amount was charged, Agoda flashed technical issues on the screen and that is the end of the matter. The bank confirms the amount is charged to my card. The Hotel confirms they have neither received payment nor booking in my wife’s name. There is no message from Agoda either of successful transaction or otherwise. They have no phone number you can call and seek help. There is just some computer which gives fixed replies. I have been forced to raise a card dispute with my bank and will also be lodging a criminal complaint with the Cyber Crime Unit in the place where I live (Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India). This is not a bona fide website. It appears to have been designed with the sole purpose of scamming unsuspecting people.
NEVER EVER USE THIS PIECE OF CRAP BOOKINg SERVICE!! THEY CAHRGE 58% BOOKING FEE TO CANCEL!!! Booked in Nv for Aug 13-15 but governor installs mask mandate after we booked & my activities got cancelled. AGODA RIPOFF!!!! 58% ????? REALLY?????
AGODA STOLE MY MONEY.
I paid for a 4 night stay at a hotel, had to cancel at the last minute.
AGODA’S policy said I would be charged for one (1) night, as a penalty; but the remaining money is refunded to the customer.
No, not at all!!
Months later Agoda hasn’t given mmoney-back.
AVOID THESE THIEVES.
I made reservation but arrived to Fully Booked Hotel. The hotel never had a copy of my reservation, I showed attendant my booked receipt which was totally correct location with no available rooms. I never stayed there and was charged. Agoda has Zero Customer Service. Maybe I will get a response? Choose wisely!
This was our 1st time using Agoda and I just wanted to let everyone know that you should avoid this site. Use Travelocity, Expedia,
Booking.com, Trivago, etc ( one of the main sites that are reputable ). Following is our account of our troubles: We checked the box
on their site for a secret deal which they discounted the rate and showed 2 hotels that they would choose from for us. After the
booking was completed , I noticed that the dates were wrong, their site had changed the checkin & checkout dates by 1 day. I canceled
the booking immediately and it showed that I would be billed anyway – no refund. I rebooked the same deal but changed my dates to 1
day earlier on checkin & checkout dates and the booking completed with my correct dates. Its not easy getting in touch with any support.
I finally contacted them thru email and explained to them the problem with their site. I got a response the next day stating that they
would take care of it and I should receive a refund within 72 hrs. After 5 days still no refund so I emailed them again and they
blamed the delay on the Hotel. A few days later we checked into the Hotel and the hotel had no history of the earlier booking. They
showed us that Agoda sent them a virtual credit card with a different # then mine. Agoda has still not give me a refund and Im in the process
of disputing the charges. The way Agoda works by charging your credit card immediately after booking is different then any other
Hotel booking site Ive encountered. Most sites will not charge your card at all or until a day or two before the checkin date. All this
trouble was Not worth the savings we got. Stay away from Agoda.
worst travel site ever!! Had the nastiest hotel, full of black mold and trying to get a refund is a joke! They lie. Don’t use them!!
Agoda is terrible! Where is my refund???
Horrible company to work with definitely a scam beware it originally looks like it’s legitimate and they give you a confirmation and later on you receive another email stating there was a technical error in the booking
AGODA
Is a Scam
They Overbooked us and we had to drive 45min to the next town just to find a room. Good luck trying to get your money back. They just run in circles on the web with no answers. Complete thumbs down, they seem fake.
No record found by my hotel in Laughlin or Las Vegas
No direct contact with Hotels.
They do not converse with each other to fix any issues
When you have trouble with a hotel there is no way to contact Agoda.
Do not book through this site.
The Country Inn and Suites in Orangeburg, SC was filthy and the head housekeeping manager was rude because I showed her and the front desk staff said, “I don’t do housekeeping”
Good luck if you use Agoda
Prices shown are not check out prices. It says free cancellation before a certain date but the motel says No Refunds on cancellations. Said they would match any price. They forgot to mention, only if you can find out how and by whom (I’m still trying to find out). The number they gave for the hotel was wrong. I question if I really have a reservation or not. I guess I won’t find out until I get there. I will not be using their services again.
I paid for one of their hotels in Myrtle Beach for 2 nights. When I go there it was a dump!!! They would not give me a refund and I can’t get in touch with the agency Agoda whom I booked it through. $650 down the drain because there was no way we were sleeping in that nasty hotel! They had an old washing machine and dryer outside for you to wash and clothes and they charged a $40 hospitality fee! Ripping people off and it is wrong!!! Please don’t book through this agency, especially for the dump “The Atlantic Hotel” on 411 North Ocean Blvd. I am contacting the BBB.
Prices are great, but only the advertised prices. If you are hoping to actually book a room for that great price, forget it. I booked a room that was advertised for 57% off the normal price. All confirmed, then I get a email 30 minutes later informing me that my booking was cancelled due to a “technical glitch.” Called customer service and they gave me the runaround. They made it sound like I just missed out on the deal because someone else booked my room while Agoda was waiting for me to provide additional information. Which is bull because I called the hotel directly and they still had availability. What’s more, the Agoda website was still advertising the same room for the same price (“5 left – hurry”).
Do not use Agoda.
Worst service for flight booking. After 8 attempts not able to book the flight. Prices increase from 4199 to 4558. Did booking from Makemytrip in single attempt. But due to time waste in Agoda paid approx 2000 more for 4 pax
My personal experience with Agoda in SE Asia has always been excellent, refunds, online customer services, on one booking a hotel was closed, a live agent was sent to investigate in less time than a cup of coffee.
Must be locale. Never used Agoda outside SE Asia.
I will never use this service again, they conduct themselves in a manner that does nothing to imply confidence or return use.
Honestly, I’ll NEVER use agoda again. We ordered a romantic vibe king suite that included a whirlpool that was pictured on their website. The only reason we chose that hotel was because of the romantic vibe and whirlpool. Once we got into the room, it was NOT the room pictured on the website, just a plain king suite nothing special. Obviously it was falsely advertised and caused unnecessary stress and disappointment on our anniversary vacation. When I reached out to them they agreed to get in contact with the hotel and then came back saying it was our fault because no king suite has a whirlpool and there’s nothing they can do. Again, NEVER will use agoda again.
Its the last time i book with Agoda They have been the worst communicators i have had to deal with. Will not answer emails they are rude and bereft of any compassion. I lost all my booking money for my hotel room and they made NO allowance for COVID 19
Terrible! Booked hotel for 2 nights 5 people in 2 XL rooms, with online says kids are free. They booked with booking.com (their own company) 2 budget rooms, no child allowed. Despite contact with agoda & hotel over 4 days repeatedly, still no holiday, refused to give my money back or fix anything.Eventually agreed today to give me a % of my money back & keeping 250chf for commission for Agoda. They made two attempts to charge 200chf on top, then 700chf on top for other rooms, lower categorie.
Deceptive. Never do business with them.
My experience started at midnight Dec 23. My flight delayed, I have to find a place to stay overnight. I searched online and place a reservation through the Agoda website. I followed the instruction on the website, select date: Dec 23, and also check in at 1:00 am. But I went to the hotel 10 minutes later, they said no room was available. They said the earliest check-in time for the date is 3:00 pm. 1:00 am is for the next day not the same date. If that was case, why the website provides this option. This is the step 1 cheating. But the hotel agreed to refund, but asked me to call Agoda and also Agoda to call her back for confirmation.
I called Agoda, it turned out the Agoda service center is located in US. You have to pay for international call to get hold to them. It took a long time for them to answer my phone. I feel Agoda’s system is designed to defer the customer calling them. I suspect this is another cheating point. People don’t have time to deal with this on travel.
Eventually, they answered phone, but refused to refund. I insisted them to contact the hotel manager for the promised refund. Eventually after they contacted hotel, they agreed to refund, but on the condition, they would only refund me the Agoda credit, the money can only by spent through them in the future. I rejected the proposal. I sensed they were difficult. I didn’t want to do anything business with them. I said I will dispute through my credit card company if not refund to my credit card. Then they backed down and agreed to refund to my credit. But few days later, I received email, stated that total charge is $155.16, the cancelation fee is $155.16, so, the total credit to be refunded is $0.0. I am furious. Is this how a normal business operating? So many parties involved, hours on the phone, the agreement to refund, and then $0 according to your policy or procedure? Are you just having fun to play me?
Will never book again via Agoda
Terrible experience, needed to cancel at last minute. Understood being charged for one night but was charged for both nights. Will never book with them again.
All flights cancelled. The country I was planning to visit closed it’s borders to foreigners. So, I cancelled my booking 5 days before I was to go there. Agoda would not refund me due to non-refundable rate.
While I understand non-refundable is non-refundable. But during this very unusual situation, seems like they would be offering refunds. All airlines, the other hotels and booking websites that I used have offered me 100% refunds. Agoda is the only exception.
Booked a room for two nights but had to leave after one night because my wife became ill. They charged me for two nights anyway. Am now going thru bank/ credit card folks to get some refund for unused second night. I have contacted their “customer service” (joke) at least 4 times and got nothing but a lot of noise from India and finally said my claim was denied. I will never do any business with this scam business again.
I have a trip planned to Los Cabo May 10-17. I booked it through Priceline/apparently 3rd party Agoda. (websaver) lesson learned, never again.
I was going with two girlfriends and they booked through Southwest and have gotten there money back.
So with the covid-19 I was wanting to cancel but any attempt to talk to a live person at either Priceline or Agoda have been futile.
Priceline says not to call until 72 hour before your trip so in that case I will get charged for two nights.
I called Alaska and they cant do anything because it was a packaged deal.
And my understanding is at this point we cant even fly into Mexico, I just saw where a bunch of people are stranded in Cancun.
I am just wondering if anyone is dealing with this kind of a situation, any Ideas on what to do???
I feel like I have been taken. I selected my dates for a two night stay in January 2020 and paid my fee. When the confirmation came back, the amount was wrong and I saw that the dates were for December for one night only. When I went online to change the dates, there was a note that said non-refundable so I lost the one night’s amount. This smells like a scam and I saw online they have an “F” rating with the BBB for poor refund policy and poor customer service. BEWARE!
Be careful. Priceline owns AGODA, Booking .com, and Kayka. I got switched from Expedia to Booking.com. Made my reservation thinking it was Booking.com. I thought that it was part of Expedia. Wrong. I made my reservation. I then went to cancel one day of my reservation within 48 hrs. I found out it AGODA which made the reservation refused to cancel. AGODA also goes by the name HotelStorm. Make sure you know whom you are making your reservation. If it is with AGODA or HotelStorm do not make it. Many complaints and it has an F rating with BBB. Also, the reservation was for Country Inn and Suites. They said since I made the reservation online and paid online they could not help. I suggest you never pay online but make it at the Hotel itself.
I need to cancel a reservation and can’t contact them. Never received a confirmation email, so I have a reservation #, but not the agoda # they apparently need. Hotel has the reservation, but says I have to go through agoda to cancel. Very frustrating and I don’t even remember booking my room on agoda. I’d never heard of them.
They do not state non refundable cancellation upfront. They place it is an obscure place and charge you up front even a year prior for your reservation and if you decide to cancel it’s only then you discover your booking is non refundable.
They never sent me an email receipt that I know of…had to check with the hotel to see if the reservation was made. It was…AND PAID for, even though the Agoda website does NOT list my booking. I wanted to check to see if my booking was refundable. The hotel says it doesn’t know and I would have to check with Agoda, which apparently has never heard of me. Kind of squirrely.
They are very slow. They keep skipping pages or cutting me off then I have to start all over again. It took me 20 minutes to reserve a place because of their garbage poorly programmed website by retards from Nigeria. I could be doing other things. They waste my time and energy and put me in a bad mood. They don’t care. They want your world to revolve around them and grab your money. They operate in the theory that people want to have a hotel room, not get stuck. This is their bait. The hotels themselves. That’s the kicker. They’re horrid.
Agoda canceled my hotel reservations the day of arrival. 3 rooms for 7 ppl. No explanation . luckily there were still rooms available. You guys suck, will never use you again.
Horrible customer service! I made one booking with them. Tried to cancel it before my trip and had trouble logging into the site and contacting someone who could help. They charged my credit card anyway. Had to dispute the charge with my bank. I would NOT book with them again!
Agoda has not responded to four emails I have sent them. They charged me twenty some odd dollars over what my receipt is from the hotel directly. As I try and correspond with them in this matter I get nothing, NO RESPONSE. I will never recommend Agoda or will I ever use them again as this was my first time. Deborah Hanlon
It is a total rip off, reserved room online, get confirmation with wrong dates. Contacted these people and was given the run around, told that the hotel had not yet received the reservation and they would have to call me back. My complaint about the reservation dates and check in times that did not match, when check in time would be hours before the date requested which in their confirmation was today. My stance was why would I make a reservation with a check in time hours before I made the reservation went upon deaf ears. They ask for way too much personal info, which was the first flag.
Did you seriously think that you were due a refund for a second night that you didn’t use? In what universe does that happen? A stiff dose of reality is what you need.
You can get good prices but they do have hidden fees and don’t provide a detailed receipt. Will NOT use them again for business travel.
Really amazed at these reviews. Just visited Yangon, Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang and Bangkok over 3 weeks. All the hotels were lovely, everything was exactly as Agoda said it would be and zero problems throughout the trip.
PLUS I was refunded a bonus of almost £100 (5%) on return and am using that for a free night away next weekend.
And as for the reviewer who expects a refund for a second night he didn’t use -GIVE ME STRENGTH!!
False address
Working for a major airline, I have booked Agoda on numerous occasions. I have never had a problem, until coronavirus pandemic took over the world.
Emails to Agoda go unanswered.
Contact me, I booked two reservations for the Bayview Park hotel on Oct 7-13 & Oct 23-30 and received no email confirmation or receipt. I needed direct number to front desk at Bayview Park Hotel to see if my credit card was charged and if my room is reserved for me on those dates.
I’m not happy with your “Bait & Switch” click options from Agoda’s hotel search choices page. The price for Grand X in Iloilo Philippines was p1496/room night, but when you choose “more details” the cheapest room night is p1733. I searched all their options and ended up choosing the closest one to 1496. So, I booked the room thinking I would get the lower price, especially when they’re offering a coupon, plus I have “Agoda Cash” from last trip, but the price was still 1733, plus taxes & gratuity. it still came to almost Php 2000. which was more than I expected to pay. So, I’m sorry to say that I just don’t like Agoda’s elusive, lower price click-bait advertising. Since I was asked for my response to they’re online booking service (on the after-sale confirmation page) – I’ve decided to give it here: I don’t like it! It’s FALSE & DECEITFUL ! Hotel.com is a little higher – but no tricks! Maybe I’ll go back to them if nobody cares to respond to me. Cheers!
My family planned a trip to Dallas. At the time we had no way of knowing that pretty much everything we were planning on doing was closed due to COVID-19. My husband called the hotel to cancel our reservation, but was told to contact the 3rd party booking company. Well it sure doesn’t tell you on Agoda’s website how hard it will be to contact them if there is a problem. I understand having restrictions but when it comes to the well-being of your customers that should ultimately come first. Why would a person want to travel to a place where pretty much all there is to do is to sit in a hotel room or risk contracting a virus. I would never recommend a company that is so heartless and uncaring to their so-called customers. Please thank twice before using this company. Once they have your money they are done with you.
Agoda is a total rip off. I booked hotel service through them. Of course they had me to pay in advance. When I checked into the room I found that the water in both the sink and bathtub was discolored. The front desk supervisor outright lied and told ne that I would be reimbursed for the night I did not use. I could not check out because my funds were tied up. He told me that Agoda would take of the reimbursement. Agoda told me that the hotel would have to approve it. Needless to say, Both Agoda and the hotel (Crown Royal Plaza in down town Chicago) would be a total disappointment to deal with. I have a trial of emails from Agoda (which I will be posting) offering absolutely nothing but continual run around. I firmly believe that the object is to cause you to give up and go away. Not happening, I will be posting videos, pictures showing the room condition and the string of email run arounds. I failed to mention that when Agoda tried to contact The Crown Royal Plaza in down town Chicago they actually got the run around from the hotel. Both Agoda and this hotel are good for each other. The public should avoid.
Agoda Booking: Stay far away. Crown Royal Plaza in down town Chicago: Front Desk Staff that are clueless and lie.
Trash company. Rip off. Do not use unless you want heartache. No refunds whatsoever
