Our Experience w/ StubHub
We’ve tried StubHub, and it’s a legit website, but not the most always reliable. Luckily, we discovered how you can save up to 25% off with SeatGeek. It scans the biggest ticket sites to find you the best value all in one reliable place.
Pros: Is StubHub Legit or Trusted?
StubHub was established more than 15 years ago with the primary objective of offering genuine resold tickets for shows and events that were already sold out. With the assistance of two Stanford Business School students and investment bankers, they rapidly emerged as the frontrunner among online ticket resellers. Today, they are a renowned name associated with buying and selling tickets for a diverse range of events such as games, concerts, theatre, and other live entertainment.
While some StubHub reviews may have numerous positives, based on my personal experience, I couldn’t find many. Their appalling customer service is exemplified by over 400 complaints filed against them with the Better Business Bureau alone (they are not an accredited BBB business). Although they do offer refunds for tickets, it’s not a guarantee every time, depending on the seller of the tickets.
Through the guidance of two Stanford Business School students and investment bankers, they quickly shot to the front of online ticket resellers.
Their name has become synonymous with buying and selling tickets for games, concerts, theater, and other entertainment events.
While other StubHub reviews might have a lot of positives, it was hard for me to find any based on my personal experience of severe lack of customer service, which is shown by over 1,500 customer complaints in the last 12 months (as of 11/6/2023) with the Better Business Bureau alone. One thing to keep in mind, StubHub is not an accredited BBB Business.
They will refund your tickets, but not every time, depending on which seller you bought them from. Overall, StubHub is a legit, reliable, and safe ticket site today in 2023.

Cons: Is StubHub Reliable?
From my personal experiences and those of my friends, I have found that StubHub’s customer service is subpar, and their focus seems to be solely on making money. In the event that something goes wrong with your order, it’s likely that they will only offer a half-hearted apology and inform you that they are unable to help.
I have heard similar complaints from both buyers and sellers, which leads me to advise caution if you are considering using their service. It appears that StubHub has succumbed to the “too big to fail” mentality, where they believe their brand will always sell, and customer service is nothing more than a financial burden.
Given that they were founded by investment bankers, it is not surprising that their primary objective is to maximize revenue by any means necessary. They have been involved in numerous legal disputes to generate more profits, which highlights their insatiable desire for financial gain.
- Not Accredited with the BBB.org
- Hidden Fee
- Bad Customer Service
Another good alternative to check out is TickPick reviews. They have no hidden service fees added on at checkout like StubHub and many others do. I’d say TickPick is legit and reliable in 2023.

I paid a premium for VIP tickets to the Dierks Bentley concert at the Tampa Mid Florida Ampitheater. When I got the tickets it said that they were show tickets only and we would not have access to any of the VIP areas (club/lounge).
At this point they are just really expensive seats that I could have paid half as much for. I contacted them on 9/11/18 and they basically just lied to me. They said they contacted the amphitheater and were told that certain VIP seats do not include the lounge. I contacted the amphitheater and they told me that when brokers buy these tickets in quantity they get them for less by removing the VIP areas and then sell them through third party providers like Stubhub.
I have been to this venue and bought VIP tickets several times and always had access. When I said I wanted my money back they told me no. When I raised the issue of their “fan guarantee” they told me the seller had provided me with the tickets and I was therefore out of luck. Their customer service could barely speak English and when I asked for a manager the 2 times I called them, I was told first they were not there and then secondly they were too busy.
I asked for a return call from a manager and none came.
If they do this to you, chargeback your tickets with credit card company. I will never use them again!
Just wanted to post an update on my last comment about my Stubhub experience. My tickets had taken a little over 3 weeks to arrive, which was a few days before the concert, so that was good. I just was a little skeptical not knowing when my tickets were coming.
Stub Hub. Where do i start. Anybody thinking of using this bunch should think again. Total rip off merchants. Ordered tickets for 5 seconds of summer concert in June. They quite happily took our money for the already overpriced items. We were told we would receive the tickets about a week before the event. Guess what no tickets. We contacted them via email which they say is the quickest way to get a response. that was Friday 26 of October with the concert being on Thursday the first of November. I still have not had a response to that. We were away for the weekend, so decided to phone them on Monday 29 of October. We were told that they would sort it out. Another phone call Monday afternoon, told the same thing. Tuesday came, Three more calls, same story but with added information that they were having trouble contacting the supplier. Wednesday came still no tickets, then the news the supplier had withdrawn the tickets from sale. In this event they offer a guarantee of replacement tickets. Do not believe it total bullshit. They have left my 14 year old daughter distraught, this was her Birthday present, they did not give a toss, they have had our money since June then tell us the night before the concert that they do not have our tickets. The operators had little or no concern, just not bothered couldn’t give a toss attitude towards the whole situation sums up Stub Hub. Yes we will get a refund but a refund is no good to a 14 year old who had been looking forward to this concert for months. I wish i could have been a bit more forthright with this review, but i may have got into trouble, I can not describe how angry i am with this bunch of money grabbing shysters. Stay away from Stub Hub folks be aware, they make promises they have no intention of honoring, who ever is in charge of this lot has no idea of what honor means. I look forward to a reply from them, you never know it may happen but i doubt it.
My first and last time using StubHub. I tried ordering last minute tickets on StubHub, but after going through the checkout and finishing my order I couldn’t download the tickets. I called StubHub customer service and they said the seller has till the day of the event to make them available. It was the day of and still nothing. Waited a couple hours, but nothing, so called again and this time they said those tickets were no longer available, so tried giving me other tickets, but it was to late and no good seats were left. I was able to get a refund. Not a fun experience with StubHub.
A few days after ordering my tickets on StubHub I was contacted and was told the seller did not have the tickets. What? Are you serious? So they offered me comparable tickets, but they were not as good, so I told them I want a refund.
Did you receive the refund?
My overall experience was OK. The shippment didn’t arrive till about 2 days before the show and I had ordered the tickets I think well over a month ago, so I was a little nervous about not getting them. Luckily we didn’t have to travel anywhere a day or two before, or else we wouldn’t have received them on time.
I bought 4 Sacramento Kings tickets through StubHub and then they transferred them to Ticketmaster. Then Ticketmaster has no record of the transfer, and I am out $500. This will be a huge disappointment to my grandson, but I think I will have to go to American Express to get them to cancel the transaction.
Hi Ravin! Thanks for your feedback and I can understand your concern with being your first order. Yes, you should get an email with your tickets. This usually means that the seller should send your electronic tickets anytime from now until 9/15. Once they arrive via email you’ll print them out on paper and use that like a ticket stub to get into your event. Sometimes there’s tickets that will say “Instant Download,” which would mean you get them sent to your email to print right away and this would be the safest choice I would think. I hope all works out though and your hubby can enjoy the event. Keep me posted and let me know how it all goes with your StubHub order.
I was not able to get a refund. They said it cleary stated in their policy that if your tickets are not available that you will be given comparable tickets. I don’t understand how the tickets I buy are not available anymore after buying. I have no choice, but to take the so called ‘comparable’ tickets I was given.
I’ve had good experiences with Stubhub, but they are expensive. Recently, they are having technical issue that does not show my tickets for sale when selecting the ticket quantity. For example, I posted 2 tickets for sale. The app asks the buyer how many tickets they want, in order to enter the event to select seats. Even when 2 tickets are selected, my tickets do not show to the buyer. The only way the buyer has access to my tickets is if they select “all ticket quantities”. Only then is my 2 seat listing visible to the buyer. Which means my listing is at a tremendous disadvantage as most buyers click on the ticket quantity they are purchasing. I raised this issue to stub hub in Sept 2019 and still no resolution. Either their IT Department sucks or there is a back room deal with higher volume ticket brokers.
I purchased tickets for a concert 4 months ahead of when the event is scheduled. I realized after ordering that it said “guaranteed ship date 5 days before the concert.” I don’t understand this. If you have the tickets ship them. It’s almost like the seller doesn’t have them, but will look to get some and then when they do they’ll send them to you. I guess at this point, there is no getting a refund, so I’ll have to see what happens. Not to happy right now.
My experience overall was OK. My friend really wanted floor seats to see Twenty One Pilots. Of course the venue was sold out, so had no other choice then to go with the resale market here. Paid 6 times the face value though. Not too happy about that.
do you get an email when your tickets show up? I got a wrestling. Roh ticket for my hubby (event is on the 16th ) but it said on the email READY ON 9/15/16!
Thus is my first time using stubhub so….
